SCV: The Mac production machine. This is the machine which does most of the webpage editing. If there's any work that needs to be done on the MacOS Platform, this is the computer it is done on. This unit runs at 225Mhz and is loaded with all sorts of utility software, by far the most resourceful and capable machine running in terms of possible tasks this computer can tackle, but nowhere near the fastest, its only downfall. Named the SCV for being the Mac workhorse.
ComSat Station: The Server. This is the machine which hosts all of the DougTheSlug.ca Website. Yes, DougTheSlug.ca is hosted on a Mac. This machine also hosts DougTheSlug.ca Mail and FTP for those who have accounts. Running at a smoking 90Mhz, with 56M ram, this puppy can't do much else than the serving. But loaded with SCSI hard drives, this guy is better able to serve the files with better response times. Named the ComSat Station for its communication tasks.

Archon: One of the Powerhouses of the DougTheSlug.ca network. Packed with a p4 running at 1500Mhz, 756M ram, a nice 64M video card, a 24x burner and 120 gigs of Hard Drive space, this machine rocks. Main purpose of this unit is for gaming, mainly StarCraft, Unreal Tournament and Warcraft 3, using the services provided by DougTheSlug.ca. This unit is also used for intensive tasks such as some of the image editing that Doug does for the DougTheSlug.ca website. Named Archon for its powerhouse strength.
Templar Archives: The mp3 player. Not the only unit I own with gaping holes in the front of it. After setting this guy up, he no longer required the CD Drive, thus the hole. This guy plays mp3's 24/7. Playing over 50 hours of mp3's in random, I just turn on the 9 point speaker system in this room and listen to what's playing. It usually takes at least a month to hear a song twice. Running a Pentium Pro at 180 Mhz, this unit has just the right amount of power to do all of its tasks. Named the Archives for it's relatively large storage of mp3's.
No Picture Available Fleet Beacon: The Games Server. Hosting various services, this AMD Duron clocked at 1.2 Ghz, is now a staple machine in the DougTheSlug.ca network due to it's stress relieving capabilities. Named the Fleet Beacon because this machine allows us all to head into battle!
Unknown: AMD Athlon XP 1700+ hybrid Linux/WinXP machine. This machine is bootable into both WinXP and Redhat Linux. This machine is also know as the Guest Gaming machine as whenever a guest comes to visit, it is the machine they get to use. This is currently the best machine in the network with it's 1700+ processor, 512M of ddr ram and 64M ddr video card. 'Tis Strange how the guests end up with the best machine in the house. This other frequent addition to the DougTheSlug.ca network does regular maintenance and constantly looks around for things to tweak and improve. Is also used for gaming from time to time. With a laptop only a touch over Trae's, it is just as capable of doing many network administrative tasks. Although the network is relatively well setup and maintained, it is used mostly for tweaking rather than fixing. Named Shield Battary for it's 'healing capabilities' to the network and the computers on it.
Observer: Trae's Laptop. One of the more frequent additions to the DougTheSlug.ca network, this laptop joins the DougTheSlug.ca network all the time to do its various tasks, whether to work with Doug on some imaging, or simply to game. With a modest PII - 333 Mhz processor, this laptop is highly capable of the tasks required of it. Named observer since this computer always just comes in, looks around, does a few things and then takes off. No image available at this time.

Evolution Chamber: Linux Webserver. This is my secondary webserver. Since doing scripting like perl on a mac is a pain in the ass without extra programs I don't feel like figuring out, I am using a linux box to complete these tasks. This box hosts the Forum and Chat scripting for the DougTheSlug.ca network. Powered with a 200Mhz Pentium and 192M of ram, this guy gets the task done as is fun to play with, being a linux box.
Nydus Canal:The Entrance to the DougTheSlug.ca Network. Currently, every single packet of data destined for the net from inside the network or any packet from the outside destined for a service on the inside must go through this routing machine. This Debian Box is a stable puppy which can get the job done much nicer than the old Windows router. On a crappier computer to boot. No Image Available

Backbone Hardware and Miscellaneous

The Hubs. The whole DougTheSlug.ca network is screwed without these things. The lifeblood of the network, these 16 port 10 Base T hubs provide easy connections to all the other computers and the net. Named Minerals for its basic but necessary requirement for the survival of the network. Minerals
Note: There are at least a dozen other machines which are simply waiting to be setup. Along with this is around 10 Pentium machines in the p166/p200 range. They are destined to be permanently setup in a Beowulf Cluster. I have successfully set some of them up in a cluster and run them for a while, but due to lack of space, and a valid project to let them grind on, they have been put aside for now. Also included in this stockpile of computers is some Sun Sparc and UltraSparc Stations. Expect to see some new permanent additions soon as these along with other machines get setup.
